Stylus Cleaner Nagaoka AM-801

We did the following experiment: On our VPI Aries Scout with an ORTOFON ROHMANN mounted under the headshell rotated a non-washed record with some surfacial contaminations. We let one side of the record run trough. Then we connected the VPI to an ORTOFON TC 3000 Computer and tried to measure the relevant stylus parameters.

The result was, not surprisingly, the TC 3000 gave out errors and was not able to catch any reading. Then we cleaned the stylus with NAGAOKA AM-801 fluid. After that the measured data could be read by the TC 3000 faultless. We repeated our trial using established competitors products.
With some of these products we had to do the cleaning twice before we got adaptive data by the TC 3000. One fluid was absolute defective. Using this fluid no measurement was possible even after several cleanings of the stylus. It was evident that this fluid left residue on the stylus.
Next step was to find out if using AM-801 has any effect to the sound of the stylus. In our opinion there was a brighter high-frequency band and a more distinctive overall-presence of the tone ascertainable after cleaning with NAGAOKA AM-801. Also discoverable was the reduced running noise after using AM-801 when playing a not very high-class pressing.
